Move-in by the numbers (2024)

With total attendance at the University of South Carolina topping 38,000 for the first time, a new class of Gameco*cks bring excitement and an energetic buzz back to the Columbia campus and metro area. Here are some numbers about our incoming students that help give a picture of the resources it takes to support them, the activities they take part in and how they’ll impact campus life.

Incoming students

7,290 — estimated number of freshmen entering the University of South Carolina this fall

3,800 — estimated number of freshmen who are residents of South Carolina, 52 percent of the class

171,100 — packages delivered to resident students during the 2023-24 academic year, with 18,100 delivered through the August 2023 move-in period and nearly 10,000 parcels delivered to the new lockers at Russell House.

Feeding the crowds

Over 800 — associates (320 being USC students) and 10 campus chefs with Carolina Food Co. serving the university community at six dining halls and over 30 retail locations across campus
